Super Surrey sees nine selected
At a competition dominated by weather, Surrey walked away from the Regional Combined Events’ Championships with six athletes qualifying for the National Final in September, to be held in Boston Lincs.
The Junior Boys had a strong day to finish second, with the Senior Boys’ team third, with Sawatomo Yamakawa (3rd, JB) and Edward Adams (4th, JB), sealing individual spots for the National Final. Scott Rees (9th) and Justin Tarrant's (10th) valiant efforts in the Senior age group saw them qualify through the national pool, as did top Surrey Inter Girl Amelia Thorpe (8th). The Junior and Inter Girls’ teams both placed 5th, with Alexa Eichelmann highest junior (7th) .
However, the team of the weekend was the victorious Inter Boys, who narrowly pipped Hertfordshire by just 99 points. Sam Talbot finished a fine second in the individual, with Dylan Carlsson-Smith in 4th. Our other two team members (Rory Kelly and Ocean Schwartz) both finished in the top 10, to show some considerable depth. They will go to Boston with high hopes in September. Well done to all those who competed in Surrey colours this weekend.

DO YOU NEED HELP TO FIND THE RIGHT ATHLETICS CLUB?
England Athletics has launched a new website to help people find their nearest athletics club. The new site at clubfinder.englandathletics.org provides more detail about clubs than have previously been available to anyone seeking to find the right athletics club. It allows people to search by location and/or by key words, and enables clubs to list the separate activities of their clubs as different listings together with helpful contact details and supporting information. We hope it helps those new to our sport to find the support they need to make their mark!
